Here are a few facts about me:

Bio:

Mid-thirties, half-Danish/half-American, Bisexual

How I express myself:

Books, essays, aphorisms, podcasts, poetry, photography

Topics I write about:

  • Memoir: stories about my life, love, grief, survival

  • Human Nature: psychology, philosophy of mind, narcissism

  • Existentialism: responsibility, free will, authenticity, neuroticism

  • Humanism: feminism, equality, diversity, universal human nature

  • Activism: world events, social issues, civic responsibility

Philosophy of Mind: When I was 16, I went to college to study Psychology, Philosophy, & Writing. I intended to get a PhD in psychology but decided to take a less institutional path forward. I’ve been writing Philosophy of Mind for nearly 20 years.

Author: although I completed my first book at 24 years old, I find it difficult to stop writing and edit my work. Every day, I write thousands of words & I rarely sit down to finalize them for publishing.

Part of it is that I never wanted a single piece of work or a single genre to represent me. I always wanted the freedom to authentically move where the creativity took me.

Another part of it was that I never stopped living long enough to devote time and energy to previous years of work.

For example: my book at 24 years old was written in 2013. I then spent two years editing it. During that time, I wrote nothing knew, only edited previous work. So I only have one year of work representing 3 years of my life.

I never wanted to do that again. From then on, each year of my life has its own book. And since life was consistently full, I didn’t have enough time to stop reflecting on the current moment and devote myself to editing the past moments.

We’re working to change that.

Existentialism: As well as writing memoir & psychology, the majority of my writing is Existentialist. Existentialism is a wide, all-encompassing philosophy but the shortest description is that it emphasizes the view that the human is at the center of their own story: has a personal responsibility to live meaningfully & choose their own destiny.

Wanderer/Nomad: I spent my childhood in the mountains of Montana. High school in Upstate New York. At 19 years old, moved to Russia & Estonia for almost a year, before moving to D.C. for a decade. I’ve traveled to 12 countries and 45 U.S. states.

Road Trip: In 2018 & 2019, I spent 8 months on a road trip across the United States. I traveled over 15,000 miles & visited 30 states with my Dalmatian, Kennedy.

I currently live in Savannah, Georgia––a city I fell in love with on my road trip.

Dog-Mom: Mom to 3 dogs. Two Dalmatians: Athena & Kennedy. And one German Short-Haired Pointer: Freyja.

My soul-pup, Athena, died tragically in 2024, but she’s still a very big part of me.

Humanist: I believe that at the core, all human beings have universal human potential. I appreciate that we look different and identify ourselves via different ethnicities, languages, & religions. But in my view, humans are human.

For this reason, I’m pro-diversity. Most of my friends & lovers have been people from other countries or ethnicities. And I believe that our sex & gender do not create that many differences in our personality (our culture has more influence on who we identify as than innately born differences).

Activist: Over the past decade, I’ve protested over 25 times. In 2021 & 2022, I organized three abortion rights marches when Roe v Wade fell & founded a local women’s group called Savannah Womens+ Rights & Activism.

Non-Profit: I founded & became President of the Savannah Federation of Democratic Women; a non-profit that supported women in politics. I was the Secretary for Georgia’s oldest LGBTQIA organization, First City Network. And I did other consulting work for other non-profits.
